Colorado River/Hoover Dam

The first thing we noticed today when we got off the bus was the heat!  It was 39 degrees today and we were very, very hot!  However, as soon as we saw the Hoover Dam and the Colorado River, we were all in complete awe, it was a breathtaking sight!

We boarded our pontoon boat for a 3 hour river float ride down the Black Canyon.

We stopped off to touch one of the natural hot springs.  The water was very hot and we could only touch it for a second.

Some amazing views from our boat.

We stopped at a small sandy beach area for lunch, which was included on our ride.  Everyone got a red lunch bag (which they could keep) with a turkey sandwich and snacks.  We even waded in the water to cool off, but the water was freezing cold.

The kids took turns driving the boat down the river!

And as luck would happen there was a solar eclipse visible from Arizona this afternoon.  Our tour guide provide us with a special solar filter so we could see the eclipse.

Tomorrow we are off to the Grand Canyon!
